Valentines is coming and we are trying a few new things.

January 28th, 2015

Many of our customers have asked why we don't have pretty much the same offering for Valentines as we do for Christmas - we have a small offering of window clings for valentines but certainly not the quantity or variety we offer during the winter holidays - here's why.

First, and most importantly, I'm tired.

We start the "Christmas cling" season in mid August - a friend wrote to me this year "...Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. If you still can now that half your year is planning Merry Christmases..." I think that says it all. We spend a solid 2 months getting ready and then it's 24/7 from mid Oct thru early Jan.

Second, with Christmas, we have 3 or 4 months of lead up time with the avalanche starting Nov. 1st (Halloween decorations down, snowflakes up). With Valentines the Christmas hangover lasts until about the 3rd week in January, so advertising only starts to kick in with about two weeks of shopping time to go - there is minimal lead up time - folks are also more inclined to buy from an actual store (rather than online) with such a small shipping window.

Third, not that many people decorate in the same manner for valentines as they do Christmas, so demand is way down.

Fourth, did I mention I'm tired!

Having said all that we do have a small set of offerings - our bow heart, and our snowflake heart are available in a couple of different sizes.

I am considering making a Combo Heart pack with 2 and 4 inch hearts, just like our 36 Flakes Combo pack, any opinions would be most welcome - I guess this is like my own focus group. Please let me know.
